There’s something about starting a new year with slowing down, leaning into creativity, and saying yes to making something beautiful even when the conditions aren’t exactly ideal (meaning the freezing cold weather). This maternity session at Marsh Creek Reservoir was the perfect way to welcome 2026.

Just for fun, Tara Kapish Photography and I teamed up for a maternity session that was cold but exactly what our creative bone needed.

We styled Rachel in one of the newest additions to my client closet — a dress designed to move beautifully while still feeling effortless.  It’s a dress that works just as well for maternity as it does for everyday life, which is always my goal when curating the client wardrobe: timeless, comfortable, and flattering without feeling overdone.

The neutral tones paired perfectly with the winter landscape at Marsh Creek. Even with the chill (super chill to be exact), Rachel looked calm, confident, and completely herself — which is exactly what I hope every expecting mother feels.

Yes, it was cold. But the laughter, the connection, and the trust made it completely worth it. Sessions like this remind me that photography magic doesn’t require perfect weather,  it just requires presence and heart.
